DFI Week 5
What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
During today's session, it dawned on me again that there are so many things in teaching that we know, but forget to apply to hook learners as much as possibl:
Learning should be visible to the LEARNER, WHANAU, TEACHER AND COLLEAGUES. That ensures pride and accountability.
Visibility ensures a greater understanding of WALT's WALF's (and WILL's - that's my own take on: What I Loved Learning - a reflection from learners)
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
By setting up your site as a shopwindow, you "sell" your teaching and their learning.
Will students be hooked, engaged and motivated when engaging with the learning? As adults,we choose what we want to engage in and learn, why do we expect less of our students?
What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
Sites, sites, MULTI MODAL sites! Engaging students can be tricky, so by making use of video, text, slides, mote and reading all contribute to a great hook-in.
What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
Be brave, try it out, look at other sites and learn from that.

Great work Susan! The site you built today is eye-catching and would appeal to learners which leads to engagement and motivation! I'm sure the artist in you will design stunning sites and combine that with the multi modal elements the sites will deliver effective learning programmes for your students.

Thank you Cheryl! I actually like designing sites and like to apply what I've learned. I am surrounded by people who give me good advise, so I make use of that. Do you think you could have a look at my class site?
